A note from our Alumni— Daryl Lim
Daryl is a registered member of the Singapore PGA and from 2026, a coach with YGNL. He gave his thoughts on what he has experienced.
During my secondary school days, I was part of the Youth Golf Programme where I had the opportunity to compete, learn, and grow alongside my peers. It was during this time that I achieved several awards, which eventually led to me receiving the CCA Colours Award for both team and individual achievements. These moments remained some of my proudest memories in school, as they reflected not only my progress in golf but also the effort, discipline, and teamwork that went into every training session and competition.
As I continued to grow in the game, golf became more than just a hobby—it became a career. I went on to become a golf professional and the first Singaporean to compete in world long drive competitions while coaching golfers of all ages and skill levels. Throughout this journey, I have always remembered the experiences and lessons that shaped me during my school years.
Today, it is incredibly meaningful to return to my alma mater, this time as a YGNL coach. Standing on the other side, guiding students through the same programme that played a significant role in my development, is both humbling and rewarding. It is a full-circle moment that reminds me of the impact great coaches and opportunities can have on young athletes.
My goal is not only to help students improve their golf skills but also to inspire them to enjoy the process, build confidence, and develop habits that extend beyond the golf course. I hope to create a positive experience that they will remember, just as I do.
Being able to give back to my school through the YGNL Programme is a privilege, and I look forward to helping the next generation discover their passion for golf and create their own meaningful memories.
